Supporting your child to stand out from the crowd.

My name is Ara Simmons. Pleased to E meet you.

A parent of 3 children and a passionate teacher who has a love for learning, I often wonder what it’s going to be like for my children growing up and earning their own living. Perhaps everything we currently understand about the world of work and the way we engage is going to be challenged. Flexible thinking and entrepreneurial skills are going to be the order of the day as the idea of a job for life will be long gone [is already!].

Passionate about sharing learning I have taught thousands of students over the years across the whole age and ability range in the areas of gifted and talented, Special needs, Science, problem based learning and everything else in between within a school context. Thinking back to the children I have had the privilege to teach over the years, its the ones who

– Responded positively to challenge
– Were Flexible thinkers
– Took personal Initiative
– Persisted even in the face of failure
– Were able to reframe the idea of failure into something productive

that went on to play their best game beyond school. It’s worth mentioning that these soft skills are usually found in Entrepreneurs.

I am interested in helping children find their ‘thing’ or ‘things’ in the world using blogging as a platform in safe way. A place to find their voice, an audience and an authentic learning platform in which to express their creativity.

Purple Cow is all about supporting your child to stand out from the crowd.
