Born and raised in the North West of England, Ara began her work with children and young people and supporting teachers in training in Manchester. She now calls West Auckland home.
Ara holds an MA (Hons) in Education and specialist qualifications in Learning & Behaviour and Digital and Collaborative learning. She is a qualified NZ and UK teacher. She has experience in working in the Special Education sector where she continues to work to support the best outcomes for young people by creating strength based creative programmes and responses based on evidence based research. She works alongside teachers, parents and professionals to strengthen programmes/responses that include those children that are enabled differently.
More recently her focus has been on ways to ‘turn up’ the volume around well being in the lives of children and young people through working collaboratively and responsively with schools, parents and other professionals.
Being a mum to three wonderful children Ara see’s first hand – when children are supported with strategies to promote their own wellbeing how they are able to ‘thrive’.
